Hot Tub or Spa Blower and Filtration

The following considerations will prolong the life of your Equipment System and provide you with many years of reliable operation.

If your new spa is equipped with a Hydro-Therapy Air Blower.

When operating the Air Blower, you should turn it off after 15 minutes of consistent operation and allow the blower to cool for a minimum of 30 minutes. Prolonged operation could cause the air or air injectors to overheated resulting in discomfort and/or damage to the equipment. Some models may come equipped with a thermal overload circuit which will automatically power down the Blower if overheated. Being cautious of the operating temperature will prolong the life of your Air Blower and will assure you years of proper operation and minimize the carbon buildup at the waterline.

Spa Side Control Buttons

For your convenience, you spa is equipped with control buttons that operate various features to provide you with maximum relaxation. Please keep the operation of these controls supervised. Failure to operate these controls for their intended purpose may cause damage to the components and may void the manufactures warranty.

High water temperature considerations

Once you have your spa at the right temperature, you want to keep it that way. In the event your spa is getting too hot, here are a few things to consider.

  • High outside air temperature
  • Running the jets too long
  • Thermostat setting was changed
  • Pool underskirt ventilation

Chemical Water Treatment

The water in your new spa is the most important element. To ensure the safety or your friends and family and keep your spa running clean and smooth is to properly maintain your water. There are two basic goals of chemical water treatment.

  • Sanitizing
  • Balancing

Sanitizing is the process of keeping living microorganisms (such as algae, bacteria, etc.) out of your water. The most popular chemicals for sanitizing include chlorine, bromine and ozone.

Balancing your spas water is simply keeping all your chemicals in balance. Keeping your pH, total alkalinity and hardness in balance is essential to the health of your spa. Water that is not balanced can corrode the spa or leave mineral deposits behind. A good balance is essential for proper sanitation. There are numerous chemical additives to help you in controlling pH, total hardness and total alkalinity. NEVER use softened water when filling your spa. Softened water is extremely corrosive to the metal parts of the spa equipment and may lead to an unforeseen failure.

Sometimes, despite your most diligent efforts, your water may become too far out of balance to be managed chemically. At this point it is probably better to drain and clean the spa and start over with fresh water. Check with your local dealer which chemicals are compatible with the water and are designed specifically for your spa. Equipment failure caused by improper water chemistry will not be covered under warranty.
