ELECTRICAL
INSTALLATION: WARNING:
FAILURE TO PROVIDE A DEDICATED CIRCUIT CAN CAUSE EQUIPMENT DAMAGE AND
INVALIDATE YOUR WARRANTY.
The electrical installation must be accomplished by a qualified and licensed
electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) Article
680, Canadian Electric Code, and with any local codes effective at the time
of installation.
All connections must be made according to the electrical installation label
inside the control box. Follow the instructions from the label if they are
different than instructions found in this manual. If your electrician is not
absolutely sure how to correctly connect your system, call your dealer. Do
not guess. Any mistake may be costly and invalidate your equipment warranty.
The GFCI is a mandatory electrical safety device required for all portable
spas and hot tubs as specified in the National Electrical Code Article
680-42. The GFCI in your particular installation may be installed at the
electrical service panel, a separate sub-panel or built into your Spa's
Equipment System. Equipment systems with a built in GFCI meeting the code
requirements will be marked on the top of the control panel with an
identification label.
Your spa equipment requires a dedicated circuit. No other appliances or
lights can be on this circuit. Refer to equipment data label for power supply
requirements of your spa equipment. Use copper conductors only.
The ground must be equal to or larger than the largest power conductor.
NOTE: Due to the electrical requirement of some models, it
may be required to SPLIT the incoming electrical service to accommodate the
GFCI Circuit Breaker limitations. Contact your electrician if you need
additional information on this topic.

RECOMMENDED WIRE AND BREAKER SIZE per NEC 210-23 AND 210-24 CEC - TABLE 12
This must be used to determine the correct wire and breaker specifications.
NUMBER OF
WIRES REQUIRED
120 volt systems
require a three wire electrical service including the ground, consisting of
Line 1 (Black), Neutral (White) and Ground (Green).
Most 240 volt
systems require a four wire electrical service including ground, consisting
of Line 1 (Black), Line 2 (Red), Neutral (White) and Ground (Green).
Certain 240 volt
systems require a three wire electrical service including ground, consisting
of LINE 1 (Black), LINE 2 (Red), and GROUND (Green).
Refer to
electrical installation label inside equipment front panel to determine if
you have a three wire or four wire 240 volt system.
CONNECTING POWER TO 120V (PLUG-IN SPAS)
120 Volt equipment systems are equipped with a factory installed power cord.
It is the responsibility of the spa owner to provide a properly grounded and
dedicated, 3 prong receptacle.
DO NOT, under any circumstances, modify the 20 Amp plug to fit into a 15 Amp
receptacle or use an extension cord. Doing so will create hazardous
conditions and/or invalidate the warranty.
Before you provide a dedicated circuit and receptacle, check the amperage
rating on the data label.
DO NOT FOR ANY REASON USE AN EXTENTION CORD!
CONNECTING POWER TO PERMANENTLY INSTALLED SPAS
Refer to the Equipment Data Label for equipment voltage and maximum amperage
draws. Refer to the specific instructions enclosed inside the control box.
Install proper sized GFCI or circuit breaker, then connect proper sized
wiring and bonding wire.
A bonding lug has been provided on the equipment control box to allow
connection to local ground points. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, a
#8 AWG or larger solid copper bonding wire should be connected from this lug
to any metal ladders, water pipes or other metal objects within 5 feet of the
spa.
WARNING - BE SURE THAT YOUR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT CAN
ADEQUATELY HANDLE THE AMPERAGE YOU SELECT.
WARNING - DO NOT CHANGE CONFIGURATION PLUGS WHILE POWER IS
ON
Insert and lock the white “INPUT” plug into the white
configuration receptacle which corresponds with the electrical service that
has been provided.
NOTE: If the SYSTEM Miss Wire LIGHT is lit after activating
power, it is an indication that Line 1 or Line 2 has been connected to the
Neutral input terminal. This must be corrected before the circuit will allow
operation of the equipment. Once corrected, the circuit will automatically
reset.
VOLTAGE
CONVERSION INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING - Disconnect all electrical power to the equipment
BEFORE attempting any conversion procedure.
Remove front
panel of the equipment control box and locate the power terminal compartment.
Remove and
discard 120 Volt power cord. Never use 120 Volt power cord for a 240 Volt
unit.
Refer to
procedures for "CONNECTING POWER TO PERMANENTLY INSTALLED SPAS" above.
