Haviland’s Nature’s Care Opening/Closing Kit is dual action kit that will help you get ready for spring and winter. Use this product to help ensure that the opening of your pool is easier than ever. It will prevent waterline rings and mineral and scale deposits that may occur from colder water temperatures. Use this kit to help break down wastes that cannot be easily eliminated with chlorine alone. Reduce common metal issues during closing. Buy the Nature’s Care Opening/Closing Kit to ensure that your pool is protected over the winter months, and crystal clear during the pool season.

Haviland 20K Gallon Opening and Closing Kit Instructions and Contents:

Closing Instructions:

  1. Resolve any water quality issues prior to closing. Skim and vacuum any debris present in the pool. Any debris or algae left in the pool will result in problems during the following pool season.
  2. Test and adjust pH between 7.2-7.6, total alkalinity 80-120 ppm, calcium hardness 200-400 ppm.
  3. Adjust free chlorine levels to a minimum of 2-3 ppm. If free chlorine exceeds 10 ppm, pause treatment until chlorine levels decrease below 10 ppm for maximum effectiveness of the kit contents.
  4. Use the entirety of the kit contents, directly to the pool water, which treats up to 20,000 gallons. Ideally, add treatment products 24 hours before lowering the pool water with the pump running. If pool water has already been lowered, brush the entirety of the pool after kit contents have been added to the water.

A) First: add Sequestering Compound. Prevents mineral and scale deposits that may occur from colder water temperatures.

B) Second: add Open-Close. Breaks down wastes that cannot be easily eliminated with chlorine alone. Prevents waterline rings and other build-ups around surfaces.

  1. In cold weather climates, lower water level to recommended levels. Cover pool to prevent debris from falling in the pool. Consult a local professional for winterizing underground plumbing.
  2. Use a filter degreaser to clean the filter. Winterize and-or store all other equipment according to manufacturer’s directions.

Opening Instructions:

  1. If applicable, add water to establish the appropriate level of water for normal operation. Reinstall equipment. Consult a local professional for starting winterized underground plumbing. Remove debris from cover then remove cover. Vacuum any silt or debris that may have entered the pool in the off season.
  2. Run pump for 12 hours prior to first water test. Afterwards, test and adjust pH between 7.2-7.6, total alkalinity 80-120 ppm, calcium hardness 200-400 ppm.
  3. If pool water is free from excess algae, “Shock” pool water using a granular or liquid chlorinating products according to manufacturer’s recommendations. Allow chlorine levels to retreat to 10 ppm of lower prior to next step for maximum effectiveness of the kit contents.
  4. Use the entirety of the kit contents, which treats up to 20,000 gallons of water.

A) First: add Sequestering Compound. Prevents mineral and scale deposits that may occur from colder water temperatures.

B) Second: add Open-Close. Aids to remove contaminants that may have built up during stagnant water inactivity. Helps to refresh the filter, prevent waterline rings, aids chlorine to kick the water off fresh.

  1. Afterwards, with the use of chlorine tablets or granules, adjust free chlorine levels in the pool to achieve a daily level between 1-3 ppm. Pool water should be “shocked” weekly when water is warm, used actively, and after frequent rains. When pool is used less frequently, and weather is cooler, shocking can be extended to every other week.
